Support

BGSO is a growing organization comprised of many graduate students of varying cultures, races, and backgrounds. At Carnegie Mellon University, we understand the importance of fellowship in a well-rounded education, and we greatly appreciate support from our community! We are currently accepting partnerships, sponsorship, and other support for the 2022-2023 school year. Please see below to learn you can support BGSO. Thank you!

Partner with Us

Are you interested in partnering with us for an event? We have hosted many joint events with other CMU organizations, including NSBE, SHPE, Spirit, CMBAA, and others. We also partner with local Pittsburgh companies and organizations to bring specialized programming to our constituency. For goods and services, such as T-shirts and catering, we look to support local Black owned business, whether they serve the Pittsburgh community or are students within the smaller CMU community. If you are interested in partnering with us, please email the Outreach Chair, Claude King III, at cmublackgrads@gmail.com.

Sponsor an Event

Are you interested in sponsoring one of our events? Sometimes, hosting an event requires a great deal of resources. You can sponsor an event in many ways:

  • Be a guest speaker

  • Be a dedicated mentor

  • Volunteer your specialized services

  • Organize a group of volunteers to help out

  • Provide supplies, materials, and/or merchandise

  • Provide monetary support

If you are interested in sponsoring one of our events, please email the Social Chair, Malik Blackman, at cmublackgrads@gmail.com.

Donate to Us

Are you interested in making a monetary donation to BGSO? Feel free to do so through Cashnet. If your gift is substantial, we recommend emailing us first to ensure that your donation is sent through the appropriate avenues, a formal receipt is provided, and a tax exemption is applied. If you're interested in donating a substantial amount, please email the Treasurer, Shaquetta Johnson, at cmublackgrads@gmail.com.
